How it works

We consign items for a period of 60 days. Any items that do not sell in the first 30 days are reduced in price by 30%. We split the final selling price of each item 50/50 with the consignor. If any items have not sold by the end of their consignment term, we can donate them to a local charity, or upon request, return them to the consignor.

We set prices for your consignments based on a number of factors including style, condition, brand, current demand, current retail price, and our past experience with comparable items. We appreciate any details that you can provide that may help us to price your items.

We can issue one payment per consignor per month for sold items. Payments are issued upon request, and can be requested as soon as you sell your first item!

How to consign

If you would like to consign furniture, please email pictures of your furniture to consign@kaboodlehomegallery.com. We will respond to your email as soon as possible, usually within 48 hours, to let you know if we think we can sell your furniture. In your email, please include any information you have about the item, such as maker/brand, age, condition, and dimensions. Please ensure that your furniture meets our condition requirements. Except for small accent pieces, please do not bring furniture to the store without first obtaining approval, as we may not be able to accept your items for consignment.

If you have home accessories, decorative items, or artwork to consign you can bring them to the store any day, before 3PM, for evaluation and consignment. No appointment is necessary. Whenever possible, we will evaluate your items at the time of drop off, otherwise we will complete your consignment evaluation by the end of the day, and contact you if there are any items we are not able to accept.

How to get your furniture to our showroom

If needed, we work with a local moving company that will pick up your items and deliver them to the store for a fee. Their fee varies depending on the items and the pickup location, but is usually between $85 and $150. Upon request, the movers will contact you directly to give you a fee quote and schedule your pickup.

If you would prefer to use your own movers, or bring your furniture to the store yourself, we will schedule a date for you to drop off your items. We do our very best to accommodate any time constraints that you may have, but may not always have room for your items immediately. If you decide to bring your furniture to the store yourself, please bring whatever help is needed to carry your furniture from your vehicle into the store. Moving staff are not usually on site, and our wonderful store associates are available and eager to assist you in many ways, but typically cannot help carry furniture into the store.

Condition requirements

Case goods (tables, dressers, bookcases, china cabinets, etc.):

No significant scratches, chips, stains, watermarks or other damage to wood, finish, or painted surfaces
Solid wood is preferred, although veneered pieces will be accepted if there are no splits, chips, raised areas, peeling, or other damage to any of the veneered surfaces
No missing or broken hardware, such as drawer pulls or glides, hinges, handles, or shelf supports
Doors and drawers must be in good working order, and open/close easily and completely
Legs and frame must be sturdy and stable
No chips, cracks or other damage to glass, stone or mirrored surfaces
Must be from a smoke-free home

Upholstered and leather items (sofas, chairs, etc.):

No noticeable stains, fading or other discoloration to upholstery or leather
No rips, holes or other damage to upholstery or leather
No worn areas or pilling
Padding, cushions and seat supports must be in excellent shape; no excessive sinking in when sitting
Mechanical parts, such as on recliners and lift chairs, must be in good working order
Must be from a smoke-free home

Artwork:

Frames and matting must be free of any damage, fading, discoloration, and warping
No plastic frames
No damage, fading, or discoloration to the artwork
The hanging hardware must be well attached (no wall art without hanging hardware)
Protective glass or acrylic cannot have noticeable scratches, chips, cracks, or other damage
A maximum of 5 art pieces per consignor per month can be accepted

Items we cannot accept for consignment:

Enclosed TV cabinets
Lamps without shades
China sets that are not dishwasher and microwave safe (some serving pieces and teacups/saucers OK)
Rugs larger than 8’ x 10’
Light fixtures that require hard wiring
Cribs and most infant/toddler furniture
Mattresses and box springs
Plastic items
Anything requiring repair or refinishing
Silver plated items
Bedding that is not in the original packaging or otherwise attractively packaged
Most dolls (some exceptions for seasonal items)
Items that cannot be priced at $10 minimum

Price Discounting

Consignments that do not sell in the first 30 days of their consignment term are automatically reduced in price by 30%! Shoppers often ask, “Do you think this will still be here when the price goes down?” Here is the honest truth: we price our items to sell in the first 30 days, and most do.

Even without the 30% discount, the items we sell are fantastic bargains! If you find an item that you love, it is usually best to buy it then and there. Several times a week, we hear from disappointed shoppers who are returning to buy an item they saw earlier, only to find it has already been sold.

That said, sometimes it does pay to wait. Only you can decide!

How to get your furniture home

Their fee varies depending on the items and the delivery location, but is usually between $85 and $150. Upon request, the movers will contact you directly to give you a fee quote and schedule your delivery.

If you decide to transport your furniture purchases yourself, please arrange to have whatever help is necessary to move the furniture from the store into your vehicle. Moving staff are not usually on site, and our wonderful store associates are available and eager to assist you in many ways, but typically cannot help carry furniture.

We ask that you make arrangements to have your furniture removed from the store within 7 days of purchase, to make room for incoming merchandise.
